Athenaze An introduction to Ancient Greek, Book 1, 2nd Edition, Oxford University Press, 2003 (ebook provided)


Course Description: 


This is the first semester of a two-semester course which aims at introducing students to elementary Greek. This semester we shall be learning the elements of Greek syntax, declensions and conjugations in the first half (16 lessons) of the textbook through reading and composition of basic Greek sentences. 



Evaluation: 


1. Homework: 50%*

2. End Semester Exam: 50%


*Homework comprises of exercises from the lesson/s for the week, and are due on the day the class meets. 

 

Requirements: 


- Regular attendance is mandatory, and class will meet online during the pandemic closure of universities. 

- Students are expected to be punctual, and be prepared for each class session having read the relevant reading assignments and completed the lesson for the day.

- Since the work is of cumulative nature, and requires a lot of memorization, students must spend adequate time reading the assigned the lessons for the week and preparing for each class session carefully.
